LocalMotion Middlesbrough invites you to collaborate: Co-producing a Communications Strategy
Deadline for applications: Mon 5 Oct 12pm
LocalMotion Middlesbrough are looking for someone to work alongside them, to co-produce a communications strategy, with community voice, participation and shared ownership at the heart of the process.
LocalMotion Middlesbrough is part of the national LocalMotion programme, working alongside residents, communities, voluntary organisations, public services, businesses and partners to create long-term change in Middlesbrough. They believe in lasting change happens through relationships, shared leadership and collective action. Rather than delivering projects to communities, they work with people to understand local priorities, build on existing strengths and create the conditions for change over time. Their communications should reflect this way of working: telling the story of place, amplifying community voice, connecting people and organisations, supporting collaboration and making learning visible. As their programme continues to grow, they are looking to work alongside someone, whether a freelancer or organisation - who shares these values and can help them co-produce a communications strategy.
Why now?
As LocalMotion Middlesbrough continues to grow, this is the right time to develop a shared communications approach that reflects who they are and how they work. They need to tell their story clearly and consistently.
Ambitions
To create a shared, community-led communications approach that tells the LocalMotion Middlesbrough story clearly, consistently and with confidence.
What success looks like
A strategy that belongs to everyone involved. One that builds confidence, capability and a shared narrative across the network.
Available Resource
Up to £3,000 (inclusive of VAT where applicable) is available for this work, including preparation, facilitation, meetings, travel and agreed outputs.
Timescale
They anticipate beginning in Autumn 2026, with a collaborative process lasting around 6–8 weeks.
Proposal Requirements
Please tell them how you would approach the work, involve residents and partners, develop shared ownership, what outputs you would recommend and how you would use the available resource.
They’d also welcome examples of relevant work, study, projects or experience that help us understand what you could bring, and why this opportunity interests you.
What You Might Bring
You don’t need to tick every box. You might be an experienced communications professional, a freelancer, early in your career, recently qualified, or someone bringing relevant skills from another field.. They’re interested in what you can bring to the collaboration.
Experience, skills or interests might include communications and storytelling; Co-production and participation; facilitation and engagement; community or place-based work; systems change and collaboration; or making complex ideas clear and engaging. We hope this collaboration leaves behind more than a communications strategy.
